What data is collected
Contact form
If you use the contact form, the following data is collected and sent by email to the site owner:
- Name
- Email address
- The message you write
This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry. It is sent by email and is not stored in any database, tracked, or used for any purpose beyond replying to you. It is processed through local server infrastructure and relayed via email to Google Gmail, acting as a third-party sub-processor. Other than that, it is not shared with third parties, sold, or used for marketing without your separate, explicit consent.
Legal basis: your consent, given when you submit the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), and/or the necessity to take steps prior to entering into a contract if your enquiry relates to engaging my services (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Article view counts
Articles display a simple view count. This is a single number per article, incremented anonymously on each page load. No IP address, device information, cookie, or any other identifier is stored alongside it — it is not possible to trace a view back to a person or device. As this involves no personal data, it does not require cookie consent.
Self-hosted site analytics & engagement logging
This website runs a local, custom analytics logger to measure page popularity and reading engagement across articles. It is self-hosted on our own infrastructure and designed to minimise the personal data involved. Specifically:
- No device storage: the script does not place, read, or write any cookies, tracking pixels, local storage entries, or other persistent identifiers on your device.
- IP address is not stored: your IP address is used only transiently, at the moment of the request, to compute a one-way hashed value. The hash is produced by combining your IP address with a secret key (held only on our server) and the current date. Your raw IP address is never written to the database or otherwise retained by this analytics system.
- Daily de-duplication only: because the current date is part of the hash, the resulting value changes every day. It is used solely to count a returning visitor only once within the same day (so that repeated page loads are not over-counted). It is not used to build a long-term profile of you.
- What is recorded: the page path, the article section currently in view, an approximate time-on-section in seconds, and a coarse traffic-source label (for example "arrived from LinkedIn") that we set ourselves when we share a link. No message content, form data, or free-text about you is collected here.
- No third parties: this data is processed only on our own infrastructure for our own statistical purposes. It is not transmitted to, enriched by, or shared with any third-party advertising, profiling, or analytics network.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how our own content is read, in order to improve it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We consider this processing to have a limited impact on your privacy because no cross-site tracking takes place, no information is stored on or read from your device, your IP address is not retained, and no data is shared with third parties. If you object to this processing, you can contact us at the address below.
Retention: the individual engagement records described above are automatically deleted after 28 days. Only anonymous, aggregated totals (such as daily visitor counts and per-section reading time) are kept beyond that period; these aggregates contain no identifier that could be linked back to you.
Theme preference
This site remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode using your browser's local storage. This is a technical preference only, stays on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and does not identify you. As a strictly necessary/functional technology, it does not require consent under the ePrivacy rules.
Our core privacy parameters
- No cookies or tracker IDs are dropped or stored on your device
- No commercial, cloud-hosted, or third-party analytics solutions are used
- No advertising networks or marketing tracking pixels are installed
- No raw IP addresses are retained by this site's own analytics

Hosting and data location
This site is hosted on shared hosting infrastructure. Server logs (such as IP address and request timestamps) may be retained briefly by the hosting provider for security and operational purposes, as is standard for any web server, independently of this site's own data practices.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data held about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request erasure of your data
- Object to or restrict processing
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact info@lasagni.eu.
Data retention
Contact form submissions exist only as an email in the site owner's inbox and are retained within the email inbox only for the duration of the professional inquiry or resulting business relationship, in compliance with GDPR and professional liability requirements.
